About Jenny
Over a much longer lifetime than I like to admit to, I’ve been a magazine and newspaper editor, a health products entrepreneur and a devoted step-mother and step-grandmother.
But these last few years as a historical mystery author and podcast host have topped them all.
I’m as surprised as anyone that as of March 2024, I’ve completed fourteen mysteries and posted over 300 episodes talking to popular fiction authors like myself on The Joys of Binge Reading podcast (www.thejoysofbingereading.com).
When I started out, I had in mind to complete a trilogy about three brothers in post Gold Rush California. That series – Of Gold & Blood, – grew to ten books, and I’ve just kept right on going.
I confess it – I don’t live in California, or anywhere on the US continent. No, I’m a Kiwi, loving my garden and my bees in coastal Auckland.
I was attracted to California as a location because I grew up near New Zealand’s Coromandel coast, where gold mining took place in similar conditions but a few years later.
I have a history degree and I’ve always been fascinated by history, so doing the research is part of the fun of writing for me.
Now I’ve embarked on a series set in Sydney, Australia in much the same era as Of Gold and Blood (the late 1860s.) Poppy’s Dilemma, #1 in the Sisters of Barclay Square series, is due out in April/May 2024.
When I’m not writing I adore getting out in the great outdoors. I’m a dedicated exercise freak. I’ve recently taken up bee keeping as a hobby. Such amazing creatures! In past lives I’ve had cats and dogs I’ve adored, but now I limit my livestock to my bees. Most of all I cherish living with joy in my heart for every day I’m alive!
